Before you begin
This guide covers recording in Steady for Android. It does not suggest a fasting duration or schedule. You can use the timer and review history without creating a Steady account or completing a profile. Weights and other profile fields are optional.
Open the Fast tab. If a timer is already running, you will see that active record: return to it rather than starting another one. The app keeps one active fast at a time. Choose your language in Profile if the button names differ from this guide.
Choose a duration and start
- In Fast, find Choose your plan and select a duration.
- For another duration, open Custom. Adjust the hour and minute wheels and confirm with Save duration. The selector starts at one hour; this is a control limit, not a recommendation.
- Review your chosen duration before pressing Start fast. The app records the moment you start as the start time.
- Check the elapsed time, start time and planned end on the active screen. You do not need to keep watching the screen to maintain the record.
Plan durations are timer options. Selecting one is not an assessment of whether fasting is appropriate for you.
Keep these three values separate
- Planned duration
- The time target selected at the start. This is the reference used to calculate progress.
- Elapsed time
- The time recorded by the active timer. When you finish, it is kept as the actual recorded duration.
- Planned end
- The time calculated from the start and selected duration. It is not your finish time until you end and save the fast.
Stages around the ring are approximate educational references. The phone does not measure metabolic changes; these icons cannot confirm what is happening in your body.
End and save the record
- When you decide to finish, press End fast.
- In the confirmation, choose End and save. Cancelling this confirmation returns you to the active timer.
- Wait for the summary. Your record is already saved when this screen appears.
- Press Continue to History, or use Back to leave the summary. Neither exit saves a second copy or discards the record.
You can finish before reaching the target. Enabling the planned end reminder does not make the app finish the fast for you. An app advertisement may appear when you leave the summary if one is available; advertising is not the confirmation that the record was saved.
Example: progress does not change actual duration
Fictional reading example, not a suggested plan. A record starts at 9:00 AM with a planned duration of two hours, then is saved at 10:30 AM, with no phone clock changes.
| Field | Value |
|---|---|
| Start | 9:00 AM |
| Planned end | 11:00 AM |
| Actual finish | 10:30 AM |
| Actual duration | 1 h 30 min |
| Progress against the plan | 75% |
History should reflect when you finished, even when it differs from the planned end. The percentage compares times; it does not measure health benefits or grade the outcome.
Check the record in History
Open History and expand the fast’s card. Compare the start, actual finish, planned end and planned duration. The card also distinguishes extra recorded time from time remaining in the plan. The weekly chart helps you review recorded activity; use the individual cards for detail.
If the phone clock changed during the record, a clock adjustment note may appear. Read that note before calculating a duration by subtracting the displayed times. Do not change the clock to correct a record: the app keeps elapsed-time information separately.
If something does not match
If the timer is still active, check whether you cancelled the confirmation instead of saving. If you already saw the summary, find the entry in History and check its date and plan. Reopening Steady recovers the saved state; avoid clearing its data or reinstalling as your first troubleshooting step.
For help, use Profile → Suggestions and bug reports → Report a bug. Describe which button you pressed, what you expected and what appeared, along with your version and phone model. You can review optional diagnostics before including them. You do not need to send your weight or attach your full history.
